(Spink County, SD) — Spink County will receive the first grant from a new program of the South Dakota 9-1-1 Coordination Board. The board recently approved 257-thousand-dollars to contract for new equipment and have it serviced for the next four years. Spink County Sheriff Jenna Appel says the grant allows the department to coordinate with neighboring Brown County through its additional resources, while also handling emergency calls for Faulk County. Appel noted that she plans to set aside 20-thousand-dollars annually for future Public Safety Answering Points improvements.
