(Buffalo, SD) — A Buffalo will spend ten years in prison for charges of abusing a minor. Duane Newlander was sentenced this week after pleading guilty to two separate counts of abuse or cruelty to a minor. The crimes occurred between 2019 and 2021 in Butte County and between 2016 and 2020 in Harding County. State Attorney General Marty Jackley says his office “will always vigorously prosecute these offenses” when it comes to “heinous crimes that targeted children.” Newlander was sentenced to a decade in prison on each charge, with the sentences to be served concurrently.
