Former ND Superintendent Of Public Instruction Appointed By U.S. Senate

news

(Bismarck, ND) — Kirsten Baesler has been appointed as the new assistant secretary of education in the U.S. Department of Education. The former state Superintendent of Public Instruction was confirmed this week after being nominated for the position back in February, while she was serving her fourth four-year term in her former role. Republicans modified Senate rules to allow nominations to be approved in large blocks, breaking the gridlock and paving the way for Baesler and dozens of other nominations. Governor Kelly Armstrong will now appoint Baesler’s replacement, who will then have to run in 2026 to continue the term, if interested.
