(Bismarck, ND) — A relief program will temporarily help some of North Dakota’s employees affected by the federal government shutdown. Yesterday, the Industrial Commission approved a short-term, low-interest loan program for furloughed federal workers in North Dakota and military members stationed in the state. The program will cover the employee’s base net pay for up to three months at a two-percent interest rate. The Bank of North Dakota and local lenders partnered to launch the program with hopes of easing financial stress for the eligible workers. The application period will open on October 10th and end on January 9th, 2026, or when Congress passes a funding bill to reopen the government.
