(Minot, ND) — The Minot Police Department can now launch a part-time licensed police officer program. This week, city council members approved a budget amendment to enable the police department to hire four part-time, licensed individuals. The candidates must be Police Officer Standards and Training certified and would add to the department’s operational functions, including the patrol division. Chief Michael Frye says the primary goal is to alleviate stress and fatigue among full-time officers and staff. Officials have not shared when the application process will begin, as funding for the part-time positions is covered by salary savings due to personnel shortages.
