(Bismarck, ND) — Chevron has laid off more North Dakotans this year than initially expected. The company projected 70 jobs lost in North Dakota as part of a consolidation effort following Chevron’s 53-billion-dollar merger with Hess Oil Company. However, 111 layoffs between Minot and Tioga have since been confirmed as the oil and gas industry continues to thin out its workforce nationwide. The Bureau of Labor Statistics’s latest stats show four-thousand oil and gas jobs were lost from January to August.
