(Cass County, IA) — Authorities have identified the man who died after a collision between a combine and a train in Cass County. Investigators say 33-year-old Herman Van Der Berg died during the accident involving a BNSF Railway Train last Thursday. The collision caused 20 train cars to derail, as the impact also caused the lead locomotive to catch fire. The train’s conductor and engineer were not injured in the crash. An investigation into what led up to the crash is still ongoing.
