Burleigh County Joins Additional Opioid Settlement

(Burleigh County, ND) — Burleigh County Commissioners have joined a nationwide settlement against secondary drug manufacturers in the opioid crisis. North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley announced in July that a coalition of 55 state attorneys general resolved claims against eight secondary drug companies accused of contributing to the opioid crisis through the production and distribution of generic opioids. Burleigh County Health Department officials say it will receive nearly 72-thousand-dollars as part of the settlement, while the state is expected to receive just over one-million-dollars. The county will also either get medication for opioid addiction and overdoses, or 95-thousand-dollars to purchase the supplies.
