(Bismarck, ND) — Refunds are being offered to hunters in five western units due to an outbreak of epizootic hemorrhagic disease affecting white-tailed deer. The North Dakota Game and Fish Department says hunters with whitetail or deer gun licenses in units 3E1, 3F1, 3F2, 4E, and 4F may return their tags for a refund. Eligible license types include antlered whitetail, antlerless whitetail, any antlered, and any antlerless. Wildlife health biologist Mason Ryckman said the EHD outbreak began in early September and appears mild, primarily in Bowman and Adams counties. The department will continue monitoring reports and may expand refund eligibility to additional units, as any refund requests must be mailed to the Game and Fish Department’s Bismarck office by November 7th.
