(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley is warning the public about an ongoing scam involving fraudulent government impostors. Scammers are reportedly impersonating government agents to convince victims to buy gold and hand it over to keep at a secure location. Officials say some scammers will send false documentation to create a sense of legitimacy. Wrigley reminds North Dakotans that “if someone tells you to move your money in this fashion to protect it, it’s a scam.” Similar scams have also involved cryptocurrencies, and any incidents should be reported to the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division.
