(Bismarck, ND) — The State of North Dakota is saying its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is in jeopardy as the federal government remains shut down. North Dakota has enough money to keep paying SNAP benefits in November, but the state is unable to load funds onto residents electronic paying cards. The state department of Health and Human Services is warning that SNAP benefits will be paused on November 1st if the shutdown continues after October 31st. Over 57-thousand North Dakotans received SNAP benefits in September, totaling almost ten million dollars.
