MHA Emergency Operations Center Handling Tribe’s Response To Food Access Issues Amid Shutdown

(New Town, ND) — The MHA Nation’s Energy Operations Center said it’s coordinating the tribe’s response to food access issues created by the ongoing government shutdown. In a post on social media, the EOD claims it’s moved to a Level Two Activation as of Sunday. They’re set to hold a short meeting this morning and will then share more information to the public on how they plan on handling the situation. The tribe has also shared information on a food distribution event that’s happening on November 10th, at the former Jason’s Super Foods on Eagle Drive in New Town. The tribe says the Great Plains Food bank will be distributing 40-thousand-pounds of non-perishable food to those in need, with first priority going to households that rely on SNAP benefits.
