(Grand Forks, ND) — U.S. Border Patrol officials say illegal crossings along the U.S.-Canada border have dropped nearly 60 percent compared to last year. With winter conditions setting in, the Grand Forks Division is rolling out new equipment for patrol duties. Chief Patrol Agent Scott Garrett says increased enforcement has expanded border security capacity, although human smugglers remain active. Smugglers are targeting migrants who may underestimate the freezing conditions.
