Fargo Mayor Says Halting Public Comment to Protect Staff, Not Limit Transparency

Fargo

(Fargo, ND) — Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney says halting public comment for commission meetings is to protect staff, not to limit transparency. This comes after what Mayor Mahoney calls repeated issues with profanity and personal attacks that have occurred during the public comment portion of meetings. He continued by saying the comments will still happen and be recorded, just not broadcasted. There has been an ongoing discussion with city commissioners and city employees following issues with profanity and personal attacks staff can’t censor in real time.
