Minneapolis Airport Food Workers Prepare To Strike

(Hennepin County, MN) — Food workers at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport may walk off the job just ahead of the busy Thanksgiving travel holiday.

The union representing over 200 workers plans to strike from November 24th through 26th if no progress is made on a new contract.

The union says it has been bargaining with airport contractor HMS Host for almost a year, and that the two sides are about a dollar apart on negotiations over hourly wages. The union is also seeking lower health insurance costs for workers. A strike would affect a dozen food outlets across the airport, just as the busy holiday travel season hits.
