(Mandan, ND) — Six new firefighter positions are opening with the Mandan Fire Department. This comes after the department was approved for more than one-point-six-million dollars in grant money. The “Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response” is meant to help departments maintain or increase the number of trained, front line firefighters available in communities. Mandan Fire Chief Mitch Bitz says the money will allow them to hire and train six new firefighters. There are currently 18-full time firefighters and about 30 who are working part-time.
