A holiday market tone settled in as the day wrapped up

China and the U.S. appear to be getting along a little better, and that’s showing up in the markets with more Chinese purchases of U.S. soybeans and grain sorghum. As the holiday sets in, traders are already gearing up for a shortened session on Friday — markets will close early at 12:05 p.m. central.

In cattle, we saw some liquidation tied to the Tyson announcement of two plant closures. It doesn’t change the number of cattle out there, but it does change the competitiveness of the trade. Meanwhile, Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins weighed in on the cattle market as the President continues pushing for a decrease in beef and coffee consumption.

A true holiday trade is setting in as the day winds down.
