(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota is launching a 400-million-dollar loan program to help farmers struggling with debt. On Tuesday, the state Industrial Commission approved the Bank of North Dakota’s Farm Financial Stability and Grain Inventory loan program. A combination of tariffs, high interest rates, raising costs and natural disasters have created a volatile situation for North Dakota farmers. The Bank of North Dakota opened a similar program in 2016. Borrowers must be North Dakota residents whose primary occupation is farming or ranching.
