(Rapid City, SD) — Wyoming transportation officials say U.S. 14A in the Bighorn Mountains is closing for the season today. The winter season brings in heavy snow, drifting and other conditions that may threaten traveler safety. Officials say an alternative route is to take U.S. 14 via Granite Pass and Greybull between Sheridan and Lovell. The scenic road is anticipated to reopen by Memorial Day weekend.
