(Bismarck, ND) — A judge is delaying the trial for a Fort Yates man accused of killing two people in a mobile home fire. The trial was scheduled to begin today in federal court, but it’s been pushed back to May 12th. The defense requested the delay so it can better prepare for the trial. According to court records, Maleique Walks was indicted for two counts of murder within Indian country and one count of arson. Prosecutors are accusing him of intentionally starting the victims’ home on fire in July. Two people died.
