(Fargo, ND) — A Spirit Lake Reservation man is pleading guilty to assault charges in federal court after attacking a woman earlier this year. Dasan Cavanaugh entered a guilty plea on December 8th, which resolved one assault charge. According to court documents, Cavanaugh punched and kicked her, and struck her head against the frame of a stationary vehicle outside of a home on the Spirit Lake Reservation in February. He’s facing a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a 250-thousand-dollar fine, and three years of supervised release. A sentencing date has not been set at this time.
