(Pine Ridge Reservation, SD) — The Wounded Knee Massacre site protection bill is now on President Trump’s desk for his signature. The bill protects 40 acres which is part of land where the mass killings of the Lakota people took place in 1890. The bill comes with a new restricted fee status which means land cannot be sold, gifted, taxed or leased without Congress approval and other tribal nations. It passed the Senate unanimously on Friday.
