(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota Farmers Union warns that without subsidies, farmers may skip health insurance. A spokesperson said seven of ten union members use tax subsidies from the Affordable Care Act that are set to expire at the end of the year. Without the subsidies, insurance premiums could rise by 300-dollars per month for families earning 50-to-60-thousand a year. Open enrollment runs through January 15th for health insurance plans through the Affordable Care Act. A manager with the North Dakota Farm Bureau says she’s seen an increase in people interested in their health plans as an alternative to the ACA.
