(Sioux Falls, SD) — Officials at the Wounded Knee site are holding the 135th anniversary ceremony of the massacre this morning. The massacre happened on the Pine Ridge Reservation over federal policies, cultural suppression and relocation. Hundreds of Lakota people were killed. President Trump signed in The Wounded Knee Massacre Memorial and Sacred Site Act a week ago which placed 40 acres in restricted fee status.
