Report On Possible Nuclear Power Plant Presented To Legislature

(Bismarck, ND) — A presentation to the state legislature outlines the best places for a nuclear power plant. Alberta-based Nucleon Energy was assigned in September to conduct the study. They presented their findings in mid-December saying the eastern half of the state was best equipped to handle a large plant. Nuclear power accounts for nearly 18-percent of electrical power in the country but few reactors are providing power. While North Dakota has unappropriated access to the Missouri River as a strong motivation for a nuclear reactor, factors that could prevent the construction of a facility range from price to public sentiment.
