(Pierre, SD) — Flags are flying at half-staff at the South Dakota Capitol in honor of a former state legislator. Harvey Krautschun passed away on New Year’s Day at the age of 76. He served on the House of Representatives from 1985 to 1996. His later years were spent as speaker of the house. Flags will remain lowered until the day of Krautschun’s funeral, which is this Friday, January 9th. Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish.
