Ohio State Safety and Alabama QB Declare for NFL Draft

(Undated) — Two potential top picks in the 2026 NFL Draft are foregoing their remaining eligibility and declaring for the pros.

Ohio State’s Caleb Downs announced his decision on Wednesday. The safety is projected as a top-10 pick according to several mock drafts. Downs joins teammate and receiver Carnell Tate, who declared for the draft on Tuesday and is also expected to earn a top-10 selection.

Meantime, Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson is ready for the next step. Simpson announced in an Instagram post that he is forgoing his senior year of college to declare for this year’s NFL draft. In his lone season as the starter for the Crimson Tide he threw for over 35-hundred yards and 28 touchdowns to go along with five interceptions. He is projected to be one of the top three quarterbacks available.
