Oil And Wastewater Spill Contained By Frozen Creek

(Billings County, ND) — An oil and wastewater spill in Billings County is being contained by a frozen creek. The state Department of Environmental Quality says over 400 barrels of wastewater and 60 barrels of crude oil spilled from an overflowed tank owned by Scout Energy Management. It spilled into Sully Creek but was prevented from flowing downstream because the creek is frozen. A culvert was set up to prevent any future flow. About half of the water and one third of the oil has been recovered and officials say the full cleanup will be done by the end of the month.
