Police Association Calls On Leaders To Tone Down Rhetoric

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association is calling on leaders to tone down the rhetoric after an ICE agent shot and killed a Minneapolis woman yesterday.

Interim Executive Director David Titus said that the organization stands firmly behind law enforcement officers. He added that irresponsible and reckless rhetoric from politicians attacking law enforcement can have real and dangerous consequences for officers on the street. Titus called on leaders to stop using inflammatory language and respect the investigative process.

More protests are planned in the city today after the killing of 37-year-old Renee Good. Federal authorities say the shooting was self-defense while other officials question that assessment based on video of the incident.
