(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota Public Service Commission unanimously approves NextEra Energy’s proposed storage facility.
The Emmons-Logan Energy Storage project will be the first energy storage facility in the state when it’s completed. It’s a 181-million-dollar project that will span ten acres and house 186 battery storage units in Emmons and Logan counties. The batteries are capable of storing power from the electric grid when production is higher than demand and recirculate the power when demand rises.
NextEra is also trying to obtain a permit for a second battery storage facility in northwest North Dakota.
