Governor Armstrong Says Venezuelan Oil Reserves Shouldn’t Impact North Dakota

(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong is not concerned about the impact of opening Venezuelan oil fields. Federal officials are still trying to figure out what kind of access they will have to vast oil reserves in Venezuela after its President Nicolas Maduro was captured by U.S. forces last weekend. Armstrong believes the issue will be handled by the big five oil companies and have a limited impact on drilling in the Bakken oil fields of North Dakota. He says the heavy sour crude oil in Venezuela will be processed differently. He added the biggest concern for U.S.-based companies will be if they can secure their product without having it taken by the Venezuelan government.
