South Dakota Facing Potential Postmark Delays

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota could see postmark delays, according to a report from the Brookings Institution. The report says Postal Service changes will make it more likely the postmark date stamp will not reflect when mail is first sent. It raises questions about the arrival of time-sensitive documents. The Postal Service originally said it would move all mail processing operations in the state to Fargo, ND but it has since said it would keep local mail processing operations running in Huron. South Dakota, Arkansas, Mississippi, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming are the states most at-risk of delays.
