(Bismarck, ND) — The state Board of Higher Education has chosen three finalists for its open position. Michelle Kommer, Stan Schauer and Darin Scherr are still in the running to fill the spot vacated by State Superintendent Levi Bachmeier. Kommer is a human resources consultant from Fargo who used to serve as the state commerce and labor commissioner. Schauer is the director of assessments at the state Department of Public Instruction. Scherr works in the Bismarck school district as a business and operations manager. The selected candidate will serve until June 30th, 2029.
