(Pierre, SD) — Governor Larry Rhoden says the first thing he wants to sign is a rural health grant bill. Lawmakers have until October 2027 to distribute money from the Rural Health Transformation Grant program. The state was awarded nearly 200-million dollars. The Joint Appropriations Committee held an informational meeting on Thursday and is expected to bring a bill to the House floor for a vote soon. Officials have hinted the money could go to recruitment, improving telehealth systems and bolstering electronic records.
