It’s a front-loaded Friday at the Capitol, with committee work setting the stage for tax, election, and infrastructure bills ahead of floor sessions in both chambers.

Budget writers begin the day with hearings on Veterans Affairs, followed by the Military Department, the Secretary of State, and the Public Utilities Commission. The Senate Health and Human Services Committee also receives a department-wide update from the state Health Secretary.

Other committees focus on property tax relief for veterans and surviving spouses, technical tax bills, and election and government-process proposals, including ballot language and rulemaking transparency. On the House side, lawmakers consider pipeline safety inspections and protections for electric infrastructure.

Both chambers convene later in the day, with a lighter House agenda and the Senate preparing for debate.
