(North Sioux City, SD) — North Sioux City is purchasing 16 properties destroyed by floods in 2024. The June 2024 flooding of McCook Lake left multiple homes at a total loss. City administrators say the purchase will help mitigate future damages and allow the city to address soil erosion. Property owners were given the right of first refusal. Residents in the area say the purchases will help get some residents back up on their feet again.
