(Williston, ND) — Officials in Williston say they’ve paid off nearly three-million dollars of debt. The payments went toward its Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Facility bond. It was issued in 2019 and set to mature in 2049. Paying it off 24 years early helps free up funds for future budgets. The extra funding was provided through Senate Bill 2323, which gives the city more than seven-million dollars a year to address infrastructure debt incurred from oil companies in the Bakken.
