(Rapid City, SD) — More than 11-thousand-300 voters turned out for Tuesday’s special election on “Libertyland.” Nearly 70 percent voted against it. The special vote was to create 125-million dollar tax increment financing district to help build a mixed-use development north of Mall Drive. It would have included a theme park, lifestyle center, special events center, western-themed hotel and an RV campground. City Council voted eight to two in favor of the putting the TIF up for a vote after developers acquired four-thousand petition signatures in September.
