(Pierre, SD) — The Senate Commerce and Energy Committee is pushing forward a bill to speed up energy permit applications. The bill would remove a six-month, pre-notice requirement companies currently need to make before submitting an application. The bill passed 5-1 in committee with three senators excused. The Public Utilities Commission says in today’s fast-paced world, having a six-month delay serves no purpose. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have said they will consider voting in favor of the bill after debate on the Senate floor.
