(Kyle, SD) — A senior living complex in Kyle is completely destroyed after a fire early on Wednesday. Residents say they were awoken around 4:00 a.m. by smoke filling apartments throughout the complex. The Kyle Volunteer Fire Department responded around 4:30 a.m. and said wind gusts between 30 and 40 mph made battling the flames nearly impossible. The Oglala Sioux Tribe Emergency Management team responded to help but several small fires remained active as of 1:00 p.m. Around 20 families were displaced and left with no belongings. Donation stations have been set up at the Oyate Teca project in Kyle.
