(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden is requesting a Presidential Disaster Declaration from windstorm damage. Rhoden says Custer, Fall River and Pennington counties faced extraordinary conditions from the winter storms in December and need support to reduce the financial burden on taxpayers. An assessment conducted from January 20th through 22nd shows more than four-point-six-million dollars worth of infrastructure damage across the three counties. If approved, the repairs would be funded at a cost share of 45-percent federal, 10-percent state and 15-percent local. Rhoden previously signed an emergency declaration on January 7th to start the process of requesting federal assistance.
