Attorney General’s Bill On Drugs In Prison Approved By Senate

(Pierre, SD) — Legislation from Attorney General Marty Jackley to keep drugs out of prison is moving forward. The bill was voted through the Senate in a 26-to-seven vote on Thursday. It will now move on to the House for the next step in the legislative process. The bill would impose additional penalties on inmates and people under parole found guilty of ingesting drugs. It would also increase penalties for officers who provide inmates with drugs and prohibited items.
