(Eagle Butte, SD) — An Eagle Butte man is guilty of threatening a federal official. Joseph Lafferty was convicted after a three-day trial earlier this month. It’s believed he threatened to get a gun and kill a federal official employed by the Indian Health Service in July last year. He faces a maximum of six years in prison and a possible fine up to 250-thousand dollars. Sentencing is scheduled for April 20th and Lafferty is reportedly on release pending sentencing.
