(Bismarck, ND) — An inmate is being charged with aggravated assault for beating another inmate. Prosecutors say Leoncio Baldeagle launched a surprise attack on the other inmate, kicking and stomping on the victim’s head at the North Dakota State Penitentiary. The victim needed emergency surgery to stay alive. Baldeagle allegedly admitted to the attack because the victim made disparaging comments against him while in their cells. Baldeagle was arrested in 2020 for unlawfully acquiring a firearm after being convicted of domestic violence in 2017 and is a former semi-professional MMA fighter with an amateur record of 0-2.
