North Dakota Supreme Court To Hear Term Limits Case

(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota Supreme Court is hearing a lawsuit over the term limits ballot measure. The legislature passed the measure during the 2025 session, but two former lawmakers say it violates a 2022 constitutional amendment that establishes term limits. Plaintiffs filed the lawsuit against the legislature and Secretary of State’s office directly with the state Supreme Court. The defendants have until March 3rd to respond. The measure is approved for the November election ballot. The Secretary of State’s office says they must notify county auditors what is on the general election ballot by September 9th.
