(Pierre, SD) — State Representative Phil Jensen is serving a two-week suspension from the Republican caucus. The suspension comes after debate on the house floor during over the Senate bill urging South Dakotans to “seek the Lord Most High.” Jensen said in the debate he thinks, “the only ones that are going to be voting red up there are going to be Democrats.” House Leader Scott Odenback confirmed to Keloland the decision to suspend Jensen was a collective decision by the party. Jensen serves as the chair of The Freedom Caucus, which issued a statement saying the decision could “discourage lawmakers from speaking candidly on the House floor.”
