Law Enforcement Reminding Drivers To Move Over After Close Calls

(Minnehaha County, SD) — A Minnehaha County Sheriff’s sergeant is feeling lucky after his vehicle was struck on Wednesday. His vehicle was hit while he was helping a stranded driver on Interstate 90. It was at least the third time a patrol vehicle was hit on the side of the road this year. The “Move Over Law” went into effect in the state in July and was designed to prevent those types of incidents. Law enforcement officials are reminding people to stay alert on the roads and switch lanes at least 300 feet before approaching stopped vehicles on the side of the road.
