(Jamestown, ND) — The North Dakota Farmers Union says increasing Argentine beef imports is the wrong approach. NDFU President Matt Perdue says raising beef imports will lower profits for American ranchers. He says that requiring country-of-origin labeling would be one way to offset the new quotas. Trump signed a proclamation on February 6th to quadruple beef quotas from Argentina. Trump’s proclamation claims the U.S. is the largest consumer of beef by volume in the world and ranks second in beef consumption per capita.
