(Pierre, SD) — The state House is rejecting a bill designed to prohibit certain ads for children. The bill would have prohibited ads for abortion, alcohol, drugs, gambling, gender transition and nicotine from programing designed for kids. Opponents said the bill was not specific enough. One representative said it blurs the line of what kids and adults could watch, using professional football as an example. Many in the chamber encouraged the sponsors to adjust the language in the bill but ultimately decided to reject it to avoid First Amendment concerns and legal confusion.
