(Undated) — A program will provide assistance for specialty crop farmers not covered in the Farmer Bridge Assistance program. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced the new program on Friday. It provides another one billion in funding for specialty farmers of edamame, dry edible beans, potatoes and certain other beans. The Department of Agriculture previously announced a 12-billion-dollar program to provide aid in some of North Dakota’s most prominent crops like barley, canola, wheat and soybeans. Rollins says if specialty crop producers are not able to grow economically, American families will suffer.
